Dear Floppy Hat,
Though you weren’t my first, you were certainly my favorite. You were made of nice thick felt and I loved you’re caramel color. Every time I put you on, I received at least 1 compliment from a stranger without fail. I will never forget the day I found you. It was a sweltering hot July day and Ava and I were trying to escape the oppressive heat by hopping into shops. There you were at Rinascente quietly sitting in the corner while your bolder brighter sisters took up the center tables. “Oh, Karen. It’s perfect,” exclaimed Ava, and you have served me well ever since.
I miss you terribly and I’m sorry I was so careless as to leave you at the airport. I keep trying to tell myself “E` solo una cosa materiale” but you have brought me so many pleasing moments, that it’s hard to let go. There will be others, but none as great as you. This is to you, Floppy Hat. Cheers.

*sniffle* Floppy hat, you will be missed, most sincerely

A tune comes to mind:
Oh, beautiful for floppiness, for caramel waves of felt
Upon a head you did protect, when ere the sun would pelt
Oh, floppy hat, oh floppy hat, that no more we shall see
May you be worn well, where now you dwell, from sea to rising sea.
