Work has been pretty crazy for a while, but we finally pushed our latest release, playa (that’s burningman playa, not someone who sleeps around). I am very excited about it, as we added a bunch of cool features and improved things all around. Of course, immediately after releasing, we started talking about improvements.

For those of you who use jumpcut (*silence, owl hoots*), here’s a rundown of new features.

wider site – we were having trouble fitting all the cool tidbits in the 700 wide site
better video quality – shoot at a higher res, see the difference. Upload you video to jumpcut and marvel at its clarity.
faster page loads – i used to tear my hair out waiting for things to load.
featured movie – at random and unspecified intervals, we will update the featured movie on the explore page. There’s no real criteria on how we choose the movie, but it will be a movie made by a user.
bigger thumbs – are sexy
play in place thumbs – look around for thumbs that have a small play button in the bottom right-hand corner. They are not deployed everywhere, as we are still experimenting with them.
tags – ya, i bet you were wondering when we would make it easier to use your tags. it’s in ‘my home’.
upload to a set – in addition to multi-file upload (which is freaking amazing), you can add your stuff to a set. Wee media management.
recent activity – there’s more of it, and your friends latest movie is loaded at the top for your viewing pleasure.

inside the editor:
big clippers- we’ve had some confusion on how to shorten a clip. You can’t miss it now with our fancy green clippers.
visible titles – add a title. You’ll see it as a light grey box above the timeline. sweet.
editing titles – we got it right the second time around.
undo – remember that time you clicked undo and it deleted your entire movie? ya, that doesn’t happen anymore.
styles – no longer an alias for ‘please fuck my movie’.

There are a lot more changes that I’m forgetting. Just check it out. It looks cool.
