I finally made time to send out the moocards to andrew. The post office didn’t have any plain padded envelopes, so I ended up getting one with prints all over it. Then, after filling out the label, the woman told me it was the wrong one and I had to buy a label. Naturally, the only labels they had left said ‘happy birthday’ on them. The whole time I was there the woman kept grumbling about how she was tired of working overtime. Sweet.

UPDATE: Andrew has been inspired to make a meme-sharing site called Flashmeme. Check it out.

  2. karen – i hate to belabor the point, but since i guess you are new to SF, i’ll give you a better explanation. SF is the only place with cable cars in the world – they’re unique. in the old days horses pulled trolley cars on tracks in most cities, but they couldn’t manage the hills in SF, so a guy invented a drive system with a moving steel cable under the street. the cable car reaches down thru the slot and grabs on and gets pulled along. a trolley has an electric motor and runs from overhead power wires. and san franciscans are proud of the difference – you know how when peecee people say wrong things about Macs? same kind of thing, maybe…

    best regards, buster

  3. Busterdog–
Thank you for clarifying. I grew up in the bay area. Though I have not lived in SF proper for long, I’d appreciate it if you don’t simply assume I am new to SF because I am not particularly interested in this tourist attraction. They are beautiful machines. I made the mistake of ignoring the misunderstanding Justine had about the cable cars. Thank you for explaining the difference.

  4. What was that uppity song you used when you were in the Post Office? I liked that.

  5. It’s called Banquet by Bloc Party.
