coworker: “You have to base64_decode that string to get your xml”
me: “base what?”
This is really geeky, so I’ll spare you if you’re not interested.

The redeye lands us in New York around 7am. After dropping our bags off at the hotel a little before 9, we wander out into the streets again. It is bitter cold and I am still dirty and groggy from the plane ride. Time Square is only a block away and Dennis is happy to wander into Toys R Us with me. It is overwhelmingly large. The ferris wheel spins invitingly, displaying all it’s empty carts like colorful lures twinkling in the midst of the toys. There was no way I could resist it.
Flickr now has statistics on your photos. I usually don’t write about web site features, but I’ve been waiting for this one for forever. I’m not a stats fiend (it can sometimes encourage unnecessary competitive behavior. We can all be number one, right?), but it is absolutely fascinating to see how many views I got on a specific photo yesterday, or what domains are linking to my photos. When I added the stats application, it said it could take up to 24hrs to munch my stats, but I checked back 20 mins later and it was up.
If you’re even the tiniest bit active on Flickr it’s worth checking out. The ‘most viewed all time’ section has always been available (under your photos->popular->view sort), so what’s your most viewed photo of today? This is mine.
Go Flickr!

This hat is simply fantastic. I found it on Kevin Rose’s head in the latest episode of Diggnation. Though I wrote to them begging for the hat, chances are good they’ll never read it. (I failed to add the obligatory scantily clad photo of myself). Based on my awesome photoshop skillz, I think I’d look mighty fine in this hat.
See part 1 first.
