As some of you know, California passed a law to band partially hydrogenated oils in restaurants. This is a wonderful step in the right direction, though these nasty oils will remain in packaged goods. Texas A&M did a study on oils comparing fry life and taste. Their conclusions:
All of the zero trans fat oils showed excellent fry lives that were functionally equivalent to or better than partially hydrogenated oil.
Notably, all nine of the zero trans fat oils were preferred by consumers over the partially hydrogenated oil.
Not consuming foods with trans-fats is healthier for you AND tastier.
