As some of you know, California passed a law to band partially hydrogenated oils in restaurants. This is a wonderful step in the right direction, though these nasty oils will remain in packaged goods. Texas A&M did a study on oils comparing fry life and taste. Their conclusions:
All of the zero trans fat oils showed excellent fry lives that were functionally equivalent to or better than partially hydrogenated oil.
Notably, all nine of the zero trans fat oils were preferred by consumers over the partially hydrogenated oil.
Not consuming foods with trans-fats is healthier for you AND tastier.

HAHA!!! Love the Venom Toy!
Oh and the healthy stuff is good too…
I’m all about healthy, but I wonder if this is a case of legislating things that are better left to education.
@Ed definitely education is a big part of preventing diabetes & obesity, but in the case of restaurants they don’t list all the ingredients they use. I would liken this legislation to banning cigarettes from being sold in certain areas (around schools, inside hospitals, etc). A person still has plenty of access to trans fats if he really wants to eat them.
