I was hanging outside the Apple announcement today with Justine. We tried but nobody gave us a press pass. Even though we didn’t get to see anything, I’m esploder over the product. They call it the iPad.
hanging out at the announcement on youtube
I’m absolutely thrilled about the new iPad. The wi-fi model is coming in 60 painful days, but I’d have to wait even longer for the 3g model- 90 days! I’m bathing in the kool-aid. Isn’t it lovely?
The skinny:
1/2 inch thick
1.5 pounds
9.7 inch IPS display (some fancy pants type of LCD)
1GHz Apple “A4″ chip
speaker & microphone
bluetooth
802.11 wifi
accelerometer & compass
Detailed specs at Apple
What I want to know is, why no camera?

For real, no camera? Any video and/or audio outputs? At least a mic? Kind of odd as gtalk video and the like seem to be taking off. Video chat is a real boon to those stationed in Iraq if they are lucky enough to be able to purchase internet access (Yes, purchase. The military does not supply it, a private company does.) Anyhow, better than nothing, I guess.
So… I kinda ended up here at random, but as you seem to love the ipad I’m curious what you foresee it being used for?? I can envision some really cool enterprises uses for it, but as for consumer uses I can’t picture it ever being anything more than an overprices kindle for me. Just curious?
I don’t think the Ipad will be as successfull as the iphone, as it is not as knew and revolutionary.
im loving the ipad personally. what do you think of it now? was it upto your standards?
I love my ipad. It’s great just to look something up really quickly in the kitchen. I also find myself watching a lot of videos on it since it’s so snappy and light.
I love my iPad aswell and am using it now to surf through your blog. Totally like what you are doing, please keep up the good work. Your website already deserved an honourable place in my favorites on my iPad..
Take care,
Jelmer
