Andrew* sent me a cute song about Ruby on Rails by Miles Forest:I was instantly reminded of other RoR tidbits I’ve seen here and there. As a php developer, this video from railsenvy is more appropriate, but the java v RoR is more true.

And just to bring down those RoR devs a touch, here is my favorite RoR joke (swiped from this site):

Just inside the gates of heaven, St. Peter sits at a desk checking people in.
Peter: “Welcome to heaven. Programming language?”
The man at the front of the line says, “Smalltalk.”
Glancing at his clipboard, Peter says, “Room 33. Be very quiet as you pass Room Six.”
The process repeats itself with the next person in line:
Peter: “Welcome to heaven. Programming language?”
Person #2: “Common Lisp.”
Peter: “Room 17. Be very quiet as you pass Room Six.”
The next person moves to the front of the line with a look of curiosity on her face.
Peter: “Welcome to heaven. Programming language?”
Person #3: “Python.”
Peter: “Room 54. Be very quiet as you pass Room Six.”
Person #3: “Why do you keep telling us to be quiet as we pass Room Six?”
Peter: “Because the Ruby on Rails People are in Room Six, and they think they’re the only ones here.”

Of course, all of this comes back to my absolute favorite nerdcore rapper, Monzy.

(warning: this is extremely academically nerdy)
So Much Drama:Despite the fact that he’s from Stanford, I absolutely love him. Really, I just don’t want our schools to get between us, especially since we’ve owned their asses for the past SIX YEARS. Oh, and he uses emacs.

“You’re running csh and my shell is bash,
You’re the tertiary storage; I’m the L1 cache.”

I finally made time to send out the moocards to andrew. The post office didn’t have any plain padded envelopes, so I ended up getting one with prints all over it. Then, after filling out the label, the woman told me it was the wrong one and I had to buy a label. Naturally, the only labels they had left said ‘happy birthday’ on them. The whole time I was there the woman kept grumbling about how she was tired of working overtime. Sweet.

UPDATE: Andrew has been inspired to make a meme-sharing site called Flashmeme. Check it out.

Sunday is Saint Stupid parade! Who’s going & when? I’m a little conflicted between going to the parade and learning how to make fruit infused vodka. I would like a ride down to the boys tomorrow if anyone is going down.

I bought tix for d-dolls June 29 at the Greek. I don’t like that venue, but I love the band too much.Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Gossip and Margaret Cho are on the performance list. I can’t wait to see the d-doll fans and Lauper fans together.

The show’s $50 (freaking ticketmaster..). I have 1 extra ticket. For some strange reason Dennis isn’t interested in going to Berkeley to an outdoor venue to see Cyndi Lauper. I can’t imagine why.

De La Soul and Zion at the Red Devil Lounge on April 3. Anyone interested? Some of my study abroad friends are going and I’m considering it.

Kid Beyond at Cafe Du Nord. Dennis and I will go if we’re both free.

Kid Beyond and The Lovemakers at the Independent Jan 19. How exciting! Two performs I like playing at the same show. Kid Beyond is a badass beatboxer (he performed at Evilution if anyone remembers that far back).

Is anyone interested in Snow Patrol and Ok Go at Bill Graham? I’m conflicted because the tix are $35 + $9 (fucking livenation…). I like both bands but is it worth that much at Bill Graham?

Clandestine was awesome. wow. There were some great costumes. The interrogation scene was soooooo sosososososoooo hot. Yumminess abounded.

I went to see ok go on thurs. Their music is semi-standard happy pop (which I am really into at the moment) and they are a lot of fun in concert. Like, “we’re gonna set up a mini stage in the middle of the audience to perform our acoustic songs”, “we’re gonna randomly run through the crowd and bounce around”, and “we’re gonna do our music video dance”. The most amusing thing the singer said: “So I hear that San Francisco is one of the most expensive cities in the country.” *crowd cheers*. “Wow, you’re really proud of that?”
